The deal, which brings Savant home intelligence and energy management and GE Appliance kitchen, bath, and other home products (and GE&#8217;s energy management expertise), really sets the table by previewing a central control interface for consumers. <\/p>\n<p>But, as I saw yesterday at KBIS, the news of that agreement was just the beginning. It seems that GE Appliances&#8217; main focus at the show was to present a range of products including smart home, kitchen, and cooking, as well as other important home functions, in a stronger and more structured relationship with residential energy management and the grid.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, here are a few products the company is working on that were featured this week at KBIS:<\/p>\n<p>Few of the <em>whole home battery backup and home appliance backup systems<\/em>. The company demonstrated how its appliances can be connected to the Savant home inverter and wall power battery and how the new integration can back up power for home systems by connecting with an EV. GE Appliances has also partnered with Ford, and was demonstrating how an electric Ford F-150 can provide backup power to the home through the EcoBalance system.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><\/figure>\n<p>In addition to home energy support systems, the company also showed new <em>battery backup system for refrigerators<\/em>. Developed in collaboration with Savant, the refrigerator battery allows home users to keep their refrigerator powered and cold during power outages, allowing users to open the refrigerator to get food without worrying that a depleted refrigerator will lose its coolness while running out of power. According to GE Appliances&#8217; Shawn Stover (see our interview below), it will run the fridge for several hours, and includes plug-ins to allow owners to charge small appliances like phones. <\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"mu0WFgbECYE\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"GE Appliances Shows Off a Refrigerator Battery Backup at KBIS 2024\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mu0WFgbECYE?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>They also showed off the new GE profile <em>GeoSpring Smart Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater<\/em>which uses a patented integrated mixing valve, which can provide up to 60% more hot water compared to similar models and allows a 50-gallon tank to operate with the same efficiency as an 80-gallon tank. GeoSpring also includes the CTA-2045 Smart Home Solution that makes it easy to respond by communicating with utility companies and responding intelligently to power grid conditions.<\/p>\n<p>A <em>Pyramid Wall Mount Hood with indoor air quality sensor<\/em> able to detect carbon monoxide and other air pollutants. If you are connected to the EcoBalance energy management system, the system will send you alerts and can be programmed to turn on the HVAC system when air pollution is detected. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to its partnership with Savant and GEA&#8217;s line of new home systems that make up the EcoBalance system, the company also talked about its relationship with grid connection specialist Tantalus Systems. The two companies, together with Savant, announced that they will integrate the TRUSense Gateway of Tantalus into the EcoBalance system so that GE Appliances can connect to the grid and enable energy management at the electrical level by, say, running refrigeration cycles or ice during non-working hours, charging water heaters with energy for use later in the day and reducing HVA systems and reducing a few degrees. high demand.<\/p>\n<p>According to GE Appliances, the new EcoBalance program will be available across all product lines, and will use several go-to-market touch points for GE Appliance customers to learn about. These include a system integration station with Savant, a home builder station, and retail outlets such as Best Buy, where potential customers can learn about the system and be connected to a Savant integrator to discuss possible ways to bring the technology into their homes.<\/p>\n<p>Stepping back, making energy management a key product focus is both natural for a company like GE Appliances (whose original parent company is GE, with a long history of energy system experience) and a timely move in terms of home design and custom awareness. A major focus in the home building and remodeling industry is the movement toward energy efficiency, if not zero net building.
