The Roborock Saros 10R and Dreme X50 Ultra Complete sit at the very top of the robot vacuum market, and both have attracted a lot of attention since their introduction at CES 2025. If you’re trying to decide between the two, you’re not alone \u2013 it’s one of the most common questions we see from readers.<\/p>\n
We’ve reviewed both devices extensively here at The Ambient with the sole purpose of helping you buy the best robotic shutters on the market. This article draws on both of these manual tests to help you decide which one is right for your home.<\/p>\n

Our reviews are the result of living with each robot for a long time, rather than running fast. <\/p>\n
We test each device in real-world situations, covering price and availability, design and construction, navigation and mapping, vacuum and vacuum performance, obstacle avoidance, smart home and app features, and pet-friendly functionality.<\/p>\n
Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X50 Ultra Complete specs<\/h2>\n
The Dreme X50 Ultra Complete currently retails for around $850 \/ \u00a3643, while the Roborock Saros 10R sits at $1,000 \/ \u00a3756. That $150 gap is often the first thing buyers notice, and it’s a fair question whether the Roborock justifies the premium. Based on our testing, the answer depends on what you need it to do – which we’ll cover in more detail below.<\/p>\n\n

Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X50 Ultra Complete design<\/h2>\n
The Roborock Saros 10R looks similar to the Saros 10, but the main difference is under the hood. It ditches the LiDAR dome found on many competitors \u2014 including the Saros 10 \u2014 in favor of the StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, which uses two 3D Time-of-Flight sensors built into the front of the robot. The result is one of the low-end vacuum robots available in a height of 7.98cm, which works very well if you have a lot of low-end furniture.<\/p>\n
The Dream X50 Ultra Complete takes a slightly different approach to design, with the VersaLift sensor that retracts into the body when low furniture is detected, reducing the height to 8.9cm. Most of the time, however, the sensor sits high and maintains a full 360-degree view of your room, giving it the ability to hover over the front-facing sensor on the Saros. <\/p>\n
Both use two magnetic suction pads that the dock can automatically retract for vacuum-only runs, and both machines can lift those pads when carpet is detected. The Saros 10R manages to raise them by 12mm compared to the X50’s 10.5mm. <\/p>\n
Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X50 Ultra Complete navigation and mapping<\/h2>\n
In our testing of both devices, neither really had a problem with day-to-day navigation. The Saros 10R’s forward-facing sensors mean it scans differently from a surface-mounted LiDAR, but as our reviewer noted, there’s no noticeable difference in navigation capabilities in practice. <\/p>\n
When it comes to avoiding obstacles, both robots rely on their AI-powered front cameras to avoid things like ropes, shoes, and clutter. In our tests, both performed well and are miles ahead of their cheaper counterparts. <\/p>\n\n

As for mapping, both applications allow you to set the type of floor for each room, allowing the robot to make the right cleaning decisions – whether to lift mop pads, vacuum the carpet, or avoid areas altogether. Roborock gives you granular carpet controls, allowing you to tell the machine to ignore carpets and skip only when necessary. The Dreme app prompts you to add found carpets to the floor plan after you start mapping, which is a useful feature \u2013 although our reviewer found it a little too enthusiastic, marking most of the floor as carpet in a mixed-use home. Leaving it to automatically detect the floor as low works best in our view.<\/p>\n
There is one major difference you can point out between the two: The Roborock does not offer a consistency option, which can be a deal breaker for those with soft floors. Dreme, on the other hand, offers granular control over the mop with 30 different levels of mop wetness. <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n
Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X50 Ultra Complete threshold crossing<\/h2>\n
The two vacuum robots have different ways of climbing over doors such as door frames and room dividers. The Roborock Saros 10R uses its AdaptiLift chassis to lift its body and cross thresholds up to 40mm – but it required manual adjustment in our test: the threshold had to be added to the map in the operating system before the robot could deal with it.<\/p>\n
The Dream X50 Complete, on the other hand, has retractable legs that allow it to climb over obstacles. It can easily handle steps up to 42mm, and two-stage thresholds – such as a step and a sliding door rail – up to 60mm. In our tests, the robot achieved this without intervention.<\/p>\n
If your home has complex changes, Dreme has an advantage here.<\/p>\n\n

Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X50 Ultra Complete performance<\/h2>\n
Both robots delivered strong results for cleaning hard floors and carpets in our tests – smashing things like edge cleaning, corner coverage, and everyday messes. This is partly because both machines are rated at 20,000Pa suction, and have extendable side brushes that can reach into crevices and slats to sniff out crumbs. <\/p>\n
They also have excellent pet hair management systems. The Saros has a split main brush that is easy to straighten pet hair, while the X50 Ultra Complete has a dual brush system. Both devices did well in our test with pet hair, although the Dreme managed to pick up more than the Roborock. <\/p>\n
As for mopping, in our tests, the Saros 10R was able to handle most stains in two passes – although it required four attempts to remove a stubborn ketchup stain. The Dreme X50 Ultra Complete performed similarly with advanced settings turned on, including spot detection and deep morphing modes. <\/p>\n
Both use double-throw microfibre pads, which are washed in 80\u00b0C water and air-dried in their ports.<\/p>\n
The Roborock dock has two 3 liter wash trays. Waste water is completely removed, making disposal straightforward. The app will also notify you when it’s time to empty the tank and refill the cleaner, helping you better plan your cleaning cycles. <\/p>\n
The Dreme dock has a larger 4-litre capacity, which means the robot can go longer between refills, but the tray is a struggle to remove.<\/p>\n\n

Both also come with built-in detergents \u2013 the Dreme comes with a 250ml bottle out of the box, but the Saros doesn’t. That being said, we found that it worked well with any hard floor cleaner.<\/p>\n

Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X50 Ultra Complete battery<\/h2>\n
The Dreme X50 Ultra Complete is rated at 220 minutes on the quietest setting compared to the Saros 10R’s at 180 minutes. In testing, both covered an entire floor on a single charge with enough power to clean the area. <\/p>\n
If we had to choose just the battery, we’d prefer the Dreme – but both should be more than capable of handling the average household.<\/p>\n
Roborock Saros 10R vs Dreame X50 Ultra Complete decision<\/h2>\n
Both robot vacuums are great, but your choice depends entirely on your home and your needs. <\/p>\n\n

We’d recommend the Roborock Saros 10R if you’re looking for a very low profile to fit under furniture, building a smart home around a Home Assistant, or looking for reliable carpet cleaning controls. Yes, it is more expensive, but the navigation and cleaning performance justify the price.<\/p>\n
The Dreme X50 Ultra Complete is the best option if you have complex floor transitions that the Roborock might struggle with.
